N Words
The N sound is a voiced alveolar nasal sound. When making the N sound, lift up the tip of the tongue to touch the alveolar ridge (the part of the roof of the mouth just behind the top front teeth). Next, turn on the vocal folds and allow air to pass through the nose.
The N sound should be acquired by the time a child is 2-3 years old; however, some children may continue to master the N sound past this age.
If you find your child is having difficulty saying the sound correctly, it is recommended that you reach out to a licensed speech therapist.
