Y Words
The Y sound is a voiced palatal glide sound. The Y sound is usually acquired when a child is 3-4 years old; however, the sound can be mastered past this age.
The Y sound is more common at the beginning of words than it is in the middle or at the end of words. Many common words that start with Y include “yellow,” “yes,” and “you.”
